DRIGUNG AX MK2
The Drigung is named after a Buddhist Monestary in Nepal where the "Sky Burial" is still practiced. This vulture is also know for flying over the Andes and Mt. Everest so with the bird being so close to the heavens we thought it only fitting to pair it's name with the Viking Beard Ax profile (head nod to Valhalla).
Another slim and elegant design optimized by Will to accomplish everything from basic woodsman tasks to our next revolution. The beard ax profile has a very useful design and the overall design at 20" and is perfect for getting into your next mark with 2 hands. Will also paid attention to the weight distribution by giving it a nice 1/3 head heavy feel for chopping while still maintaining a manageable ax for light hand work.
The Drigung is machined from a single sheet of USA Made Aviation Grade CPM154CM Powdered Stainless Steel from Crucible Metals and hardened to a respectable 60HRC and then sent through 2 cryo baths for tempering. The final bevel is a true "Modified Scandi" with flat bevels which allows the user to actually sharpen this beast just like a traditional ax. The 2 rear holes in the head are for mounting different attachment heads like the hammer or spike available (later in the year). Another great feature is the oval hole in the top center of the head, this is for mounting a quick lanyard to go around your wrist while you do light one handed work.
Each unit gets the trademark Vulture Equipment Works Stone Wash finish or Cerakote and linen Micarta handles. We then deep laser etch the company logo, model, steel and Made In The USA markings. Each Drigung ships with a kydex edge protector that firmly snaps into place to protect it while in transport.
